Opportunity Information: Apply for PD SEOUL FY24 02 ADH
The Young Women's Leadership Program (Funding Opportunity Number PD-SEOUL-FY24-02) is a U.S. Embassy Seoul Public Diplomacy Section grant opportunity to fund a women-focused leadership and mentorship program for young professionals in the Republic of Korea. The Embassy is looking for a Korea-based organization to design and run a cohort-style program that supports women's economic opportunity by building leadership skills, expanding participants' global outlook, and strengthening professional networks between emerging Korean leaders and established American and Korean experts. The award is structured as a cooperative agreement, meaning the Embassy expects to stay actively involved, especially in participant selection and key program elements.
Funding available is up to $50,000 total, with an expectation of one award (subject to the availability of funds). Applications are due Monday, July 15, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. GMT+9. The CFDA number listed is 19.441 (ECA - American Spaces), and the program is tied closely to U.S. Embassy public diplomacy platforms, particularly American Spaces in Korea.
The core program deliverable is a leadership and mentorship cohort of at least 20 South Korean women ages 25 to 39. Participants should be early- to mid-career professionals drawn from diverse economic sectors, with clear potential to grow as leaders in their fields. The grantee and U.S. Embassy Seoul will jointly manage recruitment and selection, but the U.S. government retains final approval authority for all participants. Candidates are expected to apply using a standardized application form.
Proposals should include a clear plan to recruit participants, implement programming, and expand an ongoing network that links Korean and American women leaders. The Embassy signals a strong preference for programs that reach beyond the Seoul metropolitan area and make real use of the American Corner network in Busan, Gangneung, Gwangju, Jeju, and Pyeongtaek, in addition to the American Diplomacy House (ADH) in Seoul. In other words, competitive proposals will likely show regional inclusion and thoughtful use of Embassy-affiliated venues and communities rather than concentrating activities only in Seoul.
At a minimum, the program must include at least six coaching and/or discussion sessions (which may be in-person, virtual, or hybrid), at least two interactive leadership workshops, and at least two networking opportunities. The coaching/discussion sessions should be organized by the grantee and feature U.S. and/or Korean experts who can provide practical leadership development, professional coaching, candid guidance on career paths, and space for participants to discuss real workplace challenges. The leadership workshops must include at least two in-person events at the American Diplomacy House Seoul (or another chosen venue), and the Embassy will arrange at least one guest-speaker engagement as part of the workshop programming. Networking is also a required pillar: the grantee must organize events that connect cohort members to each other and to broader cross-sector leaders, and at least one networking session must intentionally include alumni from the program's first year to help build continuity and a longer-term community.
Eligible applicants are encouraged to be Republic of Korea-based organizations, including nonprofit organizations (such as think tanks and civil society/NGOs), public or private educational institutions, public international organizations, and non-U.S. governmental institutions. The posting also lists eligibility in the source data as including nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status and other entities, so applicants should check the full NOFO document for any additional eligibility and compliance requirements that apply to their organizational type and registration status.
For application resources, the Embassy points applicants to proposal and budget templates hosted on its grants page (https://kr.usembassy.gov/grants/). Questions and NOFO-related clarifications are directed to SeoulPDGrants@state.gov.Apply for PD SEOUL FY24 02 ADH
